  I grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee and we now live in a suburb of Chattanooga. I have always had in interest in the outdoors and this area has some of the most beautiful scenery you will find anywhere. The beauty and diversity of the area sparked my interest in photography. My photography is not as a vocation or for commercial interests I just like to take pictures of things that interest me. Our pets are an excellent source for my photography. We have dogs and cats and I keep several species of reptiles and amphibians. It’s hard to run out of photo opportunities with the menagerie we have going. This area lends for a never ending source of photography as well.  We have lakes, rivers, mountains, forests, farmland, old communities and modern cities all within a few minutes drive. To go with such a wide array of scenery is the amount of wildlife in the area. You can find everything from frogs and toads to eagles, deer and even bear if luck is with you.
All I have to do is take my camera with me when I walk out the door. The next photograph is only as far as my next step...............

Born in Memphis Tennessee in 1959, James Johnson moved to Chattanooga soon after. His great appreciation for animals and nature are evident in the beautiful photographs he has taken on his favorite subject. Working at a local steele plant, photography gives him a release. The area is beautiful and the sites are breathtaking. James lives in Chattanooga with his wife and all his animals and assorted critters.

The area we live in has a wealth of photographic oppurtunities . These pictures were all taken in the Chattanooga and surrounding area. From the Chickamaunga Battlefield to the Great Smokey Mountians to the local attractions such as the Tennessee Aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium, The Wildlife Nature Center , Chattanooga, Knoxville and Atlanta Zoos and Lookout Point where you can see 7 states from its point . Theres alot of Civil war monuments and the city of Chattanooga has some of the most beautiful architecture.
